Mill Pond Garden Open Day for Mid-Summer Flowers

Mill Pond Garden will be open Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 10 am to noon to share the peak of mid-summer flowers.  A ticket is $25, cash only, at the entrance, admitting one car with all its occupants. Parking is convenient.  The garden is wheelchair accessible with a pusher. Photographers are welcome. This incorporated non-profit public botanical garden is the only one of its kind, now serving the Cape Region for twelve years with professional horticulture.

The garden will be featuring in bloom the native hybrid Hibiscus moshuetos, Swamp Mallow with its huge ten-inch flowers, tall phlox, sunflowers, Salvia, Millennium garlic, petunias, dahlias, Chromatella water lilies, water hyacinth, Purple Shamrocks, Bagua morning glories, red Cardinal flowers, blue Lobelia syphiliticum,

Pratia, disease proof Beacon impatience, and more.

The garden enjoys grand views onto Red Mill Pond, two thousand feet of pathways with many garden rooms all unique, six fountains, a stream, four waterfalls, and three ponds, including a turtle pond, frog pond, and a koi fishpond.

The garden provides the public with the most reliable plant choices for growing in the Cape Region, with mostly native and some beneficial non-native plants, all arranged in a design style that mimics nature and reduces maintenance, like no-mulch beds.

The Garden is a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, showing many examples of designed features for the abundance of wildlife that lives here.  You might see the sharp- shinned hawk, ospreys, turtles, bald eagle, bunnies, garden birds, dragonflies, many butterflies of many kinds, and more. There are also abundant fruit trees incorporated into the design, showing how one can achieve both reward and ornamentation at the same time.  A horticulturist will be on duty for the Open Day, happy to answer visitor questions.
